Versatile comminution systems for efficient mineral processing
TAKRAF Roller Supported Scrubbers and Mills break down or wash off clay and other contaminants on hard or crystalline minerals and rock, prior to processing for the recovery of diamonds. The scrubbing action may also be used to break up mineral conglomerates by loosening the bonds between large particles resulting from salt precipitates and clay.
TAKRAF Roller Supported Scrubbers and Mills are extremely versatile and can be used for autogenous (AG), semi-autogenous (SAG), ball, pebble and scrubber applications for:
- Production- or exploration-scale operations
- Inland or marine based processing facilities
Roller supported scrubbers and mills for mining operations
TAKRAF Roller Supported Scrubbers and Mills consist of horizontally rotating cylindrical shells, mounted on and driven by polyurethane-covered rollers. The polyurethane-covered rollers are coupled to either two or four electromechanical drives at the corners of the scrubber’s base frame.
Units can be mounted on concrete or steel structures. The shells have replaceable internal rubber liners with lifters, which cause the load to tumble during operation.
For each application, the scrubber size is matched to the process requirement. The discharge end comprises either a bell-mouthed cone or a single or double trommel screen. The rotation speed of the shells can be easily varied, but generally is low, between 50% and 60% of the critical speed. Long-term performance is maximized by utilizing finite element analysis during design. Correct alignment of the rollers is crucial to ensure trouble-free operation.
All TAKRAF Roller Supported Scrubbers and Mills are trial-erected and tested at the factory, before dispatch, to ensure correct operation.
Benefits
Low capital and running costs
TAKRAF Roller Supported Scrubbers and Mills do not rely on trunnions through the axis of the cylinder for rotary motion. This significantly reduces both capital and running costs, as design of the input and output mechanisms is simple. The capital cost is as low as 50% of traditional trunnion-supported scrubbers.
Long life and smooth operation
The machine features rugged all-steel construction and no cast components, while reversible rotation and symmetrical design maximize liner life. Additionally the machine rollers dampen vibration, which allows for a smooth and quiet operation.
Short lead times from order placement
The machine is easy to manufacture, with lead times up to 50% less than for conventional scrubbers. The machine is also relatively easy to install, within two to three days, due to the bolted assembly base frames.
Low maintenance costs and ease of maintenance
Maintenance is confined to regular lubrication checks and occasional liner replacements. Moving parts can be replaced within a few hours. This means short downtimes, while the machine is also easy to fill and discharge.
