The combined, internationally recognized expertise of TAKRAF and DELKOR makes TAKRAF Group one of the very few global suppliers that can engineer and supply the ‘Complete Dry Stack Tailings (DST) System’. Such a single point of contact is a key criterion for the successful engineering, supply and construction of Dry Stack Tailings (DST) projects.
The ‘Complete Dry Stack Tailings (DST) System’ is generally comprised of the following five components:
- Thickening
- Filtration
- Transportation
- Stacking
- Dumps design
Equipment related test work and 3D dump design are provided in-house. Geotechnical assessments are done by specialized third parties.
Thickening

DELKOR applies its knowledge and experience of over 30 years designing thickeners for the mining industry to cater the extreme mechanical and process requirements needed when dealing with high yield stress underflows. DELKOR’s high compaction thickeners produce one of the highest concentrations of solids in the industry, while DELKOR’s proprietary shear thinning system reduces the yield stress of the underflow slurry to improve pumpability, thus lowering the energy consumption and wear on the slurry pumps.
Filtration

DELKOR’s innovative filter press technology allows for shorter cycle times and higher throughput, availability and safety. This makes the technology suitable for high capacity and heavy-duty applications, such as concentrate and tailings dewatering for DST applications. DELKOR’s next-generation high-capacity, high-volume filter presses, with volumes of up to 14 m³ for 2m x 2m variant and 30 m³ for the 3 m x 2.2 m variants, are tailor-made for DST systems. Depending on the application and the filtration time, the most suitable DELKOR filter press technology, the DELKOR Overhead Filter Press (FP OH) or DELKOR Sidebar Filter Press (FP SB), is proposed.

DELKOR Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filters are an alternative to filter presses for generating cake in a continuous operation. The belt filters incorporate the most modern design features and materials of construction for efficient, reliable and cost effective solid/liquid separation, operating under the most arduous conditions. DELKOR’s continuous improvement approach has enabled us to simplify the design for easy operation, yet all the wearing parts remain easily accessible for routine maintenance purposes.
Transportation and stacking

TAKRAF Mobile Stacking Bridge System
TAKRAF’s Mobile Stacking Bridge Systems provide an efficient, reliable and easy to operate bulk material handling solution for transporting and storing filtered tailings. This method maximizes throughput to maintain plant uptime. By stacking compacted tailings, land requirements are reduced and the risk of catastrophic dam failures is minimized. Conventional tailings storage methods incur costs post mine closeout due to maintenance; however, dry stack tailings can be rehabilitated concurrently with the mine and plant operations.

TAKRAF offers a unique combination of conveyors and mobile equipment for dumping filtered tailings into valleys with irregular shapes. The chain of mobile equipment boasts high flexibility and efficiency.
Dump planning
TAKRAF’s mining engineers use state-of-the-art 3D software to lay out conveyor routings, dumps or leach-pads. Volume calculations are a byproduct. Furthermore, the mining equipment can be integrated into this modeling to optimize dumping sequences.
