Christiane Heinold, Head of HR TAKRAF Group & TAKRAF GmbH

When Christiane Heinold joined TAKRAF Group in December 2024 as Head of TAKRAF Group HR and TAKRAF GmbH, she stepped into a global role at a pivotal moment of transformation. With deep experience in HR leadership across manufacturing and engineering, she brings a strong belief in peoplecentered change and a commitment to strengthening collaboration across regions.

You joined TAKRAF Group in December 2024. Can you tell us about your role and background?

As Head of HR for the Group and for TAKRAF GmbH, I oversee all People & Culture topics across our global organization. My role focuses on aligning our people strategy with the overall business strategy and supporting our HR colleagues across all regions.

This includes global talent acquisition, cultural and diversity management, performance and leadership development, compliance with local labor regulations and contributing an HR perspective to strategic decisions. Much of this work is part of a longer-term transformation journey—building alignment, strengthening processes and fostering an inclusive culture all take time and ongoing collaboration. I work closely with our global HR teams to ensure coherence, shared priorities and a strong, people‑centric direction for the organization.

Before joining TAKRAF Group, I held HR leadership roles in the manufacturing and engineering sectors, including an inspiring period at Diamant, Germany’s oldest bicycle manufacturer. There, I experienced how powerful it is when people and culture truly drive business success. Throughout my career, I have focused on building modern HR functions, implementing digital solutions and creating environments where people feel empowered, supported and able to grow.

What has been your personal highlight at TAKRAF Group so far?

Even though I joined only recently, my highlight has been the strong collaboration with our global HR teams right from the beginning. Working together on major strategic initiatives, such as the implementation of Workday and global HR process alignment, has been both energizing and inspiring.

I am especially proud of how quickly we have established trust, transparency and a shared HR vision across countries and cultures. Supporting our managers and teams during ongoing organizational changes and seeing colleagues grow into new responsibilities has also been a rewarding part of my role.

What do you enjoy most about your work at TAKRAF Group?

I love working at the intersection of business strategy and people development. The global nature of our work, the diversity of perspectives across regions and the high level of professionalism within our teams make my role deeply fulfilling.

Most of all, I truly enjoy empowering people and supporting them in their growth, helping colleagues build confidence, develop their strengths and succeed in their roles. This is where I am at my best.

Why is the engineering and mining sector such an exciting space for women today?

Mining and engineering are undergoing significant transformation - technologically, culturally and in the way organizations approach sustainability and innovation. This creates a wide range of opportunities for women, both in technical and nontechnical roles.

For women, the sector offers:

  • The chance to contribute to meaningful, global impact through complex, innovative projects
  • Strong international collaboration and exposure to diverse cultures
  • An environment where highly valued strengths like communication, empathy, analytical thinking and resilience, can shine

It’s a sector where women can influence and shape the future.

What advice would you give young people, especially women, entering the world of work in the mining sector?

Stay curious, be courageous, and don’t underestimate your own voice.

Careers rarely follow a straight path, so embrace learning, take initiative and remain open to new opportunities.

Find mentors, ask for feedback and build strong networks, especially across functions and cultures. Engineering and mining rely heavily on teamwork and the ability to collaborate is a tremendous strength.

Most importantly: believe in your ideas and trust that you deserve a seat at the table.

If you could have dinner with any woman, who would it be and why?

I would choose Michelle Obama. Her authenticity, calm strength and commitment to equality and education are deeply inspiring. She speaks openly about leadership, resilience and the importance of empowering others, values that resonate strongly with me in my HR role. Her ability to connect with people and create impact far beyond her formal position is something I truly admire.

This article is part of our ongoing series spotlighting the remarkable women contributing to the mining industry at TAKRAF Group. Stay tuned for more inspiring and personal interviews with our international colleagues.
