Project Details

TAKRAF High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGRs) were delivered for a new greenfield cement plant where the grinding circuit combines an HPGR and a ball mill. This so called “combi-grinding” technique reduces energy consumption significantly compared to a conventional ball mill scenario.

Each machine was engineered and manufactured at TAKRAF’s Product & Service Center in Lauchhammer, Germany, which is dedicated to TAKRAF’s comminution product range, as well as  various mechanical components, spare parts and services. In order to facilitate installation on site, each machine was trial assembled and tested prior to being shipped.

Grinding of material in HPGRs has proven to be more cost efficient as compared to conventional mills and crushers. Downstream processing is more energy-efficient due to the finer product size distribution coming out and the additional effect of micro cracks within the product particles. The main motivation for an HPGR is to save energy and production costs.
